Alpha Events are an event management agency based in Sydney who, when they approached Black Moggie Graphics, wanted to create a direct mail campaign with a twist. With a B2B focus and a corporate client base delivering events predominantly within the Asia-Pac region, they wanted to enhance their brand and create marketing collateral to literally stand out from the pack.

Alpha Events found Black Moggie Graphics through a referral after having seen some of their work BMG had designed and delivered previously. After agreeing to meet in a local cafe the agency directors hit it off immediately, discussing the brief and reviewing work samples over several cups of coffee. One enjoyable meeting resulted in immediate results!

The Brief

The initial brief was very specific:- Design of an immediately identifiable, brand-sympathetic company mascot to embed within the accompanying overall design of the direct mail campaign brochure - but that bore absolutely no resemblance to the stock-standard or expected events related imagery.

The Process

With an existing logo and stationery package designed by another agency, Black Moggie Graphics worked in collaboration with Alpha Events to expand upon their "Alpha" theme and create an identity to embody the company philosophy of being a little dog but with a big dog attitude! The Alpha Dog was born, branded in the company colours and standing as a unique and eye-catching representative of the business and that in some cases replaces the company logo as the visual reference point (eg as the Twitter avatar for the company).

Black Moggie Graphics were spot on with their design concept delivery, so much so that the concept has been further developed for a redesign of the Alpha Events business cards and a new brochure currently in development also.

The Result

The direct mail collateral was extremely effective and received an outstanding response rate especially from the recipients taking the time to respond saying they specifically loved the look, feel and quality of the printed material as well as commending the truly unique approach taken.
